Assets valued over N2 billion in Lagos, Osun, and Delta states permanently forfeited by Nigerian police

In case No. FHC/ABJ/CS/274/2026, Justice Emeka Nwite permanently forfeited assets worth over N2 billion from Alonge Opeyemi Yetunde and her accomplices, who were employees of the banking industry. This decision was made on May 14th.

Bank accounts, digital wallets, cars, and property are among the forfeited assets that span the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Lagos, Osun, and Delta States.

Suleja Correctional Custodial Centre is housing the key suspect as he faces fraud and money laundering allegations.

In a pertinent ruling dated Monday, 13 May 2026, Justice Bello Kawu rejected a N100 Million Fundamental Rights Enforcement Suit (Suit No. FCT/HC/CV/4119/45) lodged by American-based suspect David Imole Averehi against the Nigeria Police Force and the Assistant Inspector General of Police, INTERPOL. The statement was signed by DCP Anthony Okon Placid, the Force’s Public Relations Officer.

No one can utilise the Court to avoid their statutory police obligations or to protect criminals from punishment, Justice Kawu said. The NCB can now move forward with charging Averehi with receiving money by deceitful means, thanks to the verdict.

In order to combat financial crime and safeguard Nigeria’s economy, the Nigeria Police have stated their continued dedication to working with international partners and using the full weight of the law.
