The government is taking the matter very seriously, according to Mohammed Idris, minister of information and national orientation, who made the announcement during a security briefing in Abuja.

He stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had ordered all security forces to be ready for rescue operations because the kidnappings were seen as a major danger to Nigeria’s educational system and future.

His administration’s stance on returning victims safely and holding perpetrators accountable has not changed, he said.

Not sparing any effort, “the President has made it clear that no child belongs in captivity,” he declared.

A message from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the families of those still held captive was also conveyed by the minister: “We are here to support you.”

In addition, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered a strong reaction from the security forces in their ongoing pursuit of the kidnappers.
