On Thursday, the president’s office announced that one Ifechukwu Dennis had been arrested on suspicion of creating the AI-generated audio of Bola Tinubu.
An online outcry ensued after the audio was added to a phoney film purporting to include social media critic Martins Vincent Otse, better known by his stage name Verydarkman VDM.
Threatening legal action against VDM, President Tinubu’s media aide Bayo Onanuga published the AI video.
Bayo said Thursday night on Facebook that the person responsible for creating the tape had been apprehended in Benin City.
Writing, “Ifechukwu Dennis, who originated the fake voice that he passed on to his gullible targets as President Tinubu’s voice, has been arrested by the IGP crack team,” he continued. In Benin, Dennis was taken into custody. There will be a formal statement from the police.
